Information for Student Representatives

Student Reps are Undergraduate & Postgraduate students elected from
and by Sussex students.

Student Reps exist to represent the views and interests of other students
in their department, subject of school year. Reps find out about any
issues that are negatively (or positively!) impacting on students’ studies
and student experience, and take this information either informally to
individual members of staff in their department or school, or raise issues
more formally at department, school and University-level committees in
order to effect positive changes.

There is also a link between the Student Rep Scheme and USSU Council,
to ensure that important issues feed into the decision making processes
of the Students’ Union.

The student rep scheme is co-run by the University of Sussex and the University of Sussex Students’ Union (USSU). Student Reps provide an essential link between students, the Union and the University:

keeping the student view on the agenda Reps are a vital link between students and staff of the University, and help to ensure that the
University of Sussex is student driven.
